Program

In the 12th and 13th centuries, the pilgrimage to Saint Jacques de Compostela became a must for the entire European population. Accompanied by your guide, who will embody a pilgrim from the common people, Maude la Chaste, you will delve into an unexpected aspect of the Middle Ages: travel!
Saint-Guilhem le Désert and its Gellone Abbey are a must-stop on the Arles Way. The village grew significantly during this period, giving it its current appearance. Along the Verdus River, you will discover the well-preserved architecture, the legend of the Giant's Castle, the abbey... all while preparing for this long journey!

Get to Know Your Guide/Character:

Maude la Chaste does not want to get married. What would she do with a husband twice her age? In the city, they would leave her alone, but in the countryside, it's a different story. She dreams of distant landscapes, so she decides to go on a pilgrimage to Saint Jacques de Compostela. Luckily, the path passes by here! In this potentially dangerous adventure, she is waiting for a group of friendly pilgrims to join. Her belongings are ready, she's just waiting for you!
