Program
Everything is buzzing in this village ever since a painter discovered that the father of Impressionism lived here. With his friends who are members of the Julian Academy in Paris, many soon start coming for weekends or even settling in the village! What if one of them fell in love with a local villager? Worse yet: with Claude Monet's stepdaughter!? The villagers, however, do not look kindly upon this "Parisian" settling among them, nor the upheaval he inadvertently causes in the village with the arrival of these strangers. It's a delicate balance to find in this peaceful village amidst a France experiencing industrial and international growth...
Get to Know Your Guide/Character:
Louise is a chambermaid at Angélina Baudy's, the owner of one of Giverny's estaminets, which quickly turns into a hotel for lodgers with names like Cézanne, Degas, Marie Cassatt, and more...
A discreet and smiling worker, she finds herself both the confidante of some guests and the house employee. And there's quite a bit of traffic! Between what she sees and hears, there would be enough material for a whole novel... which she proposes to share with you if you meet her in the village.
In front of “café des nymphéas”, Giverny
Impressionism Museum, the town hall-school, the Baudy Hotel, the cemetery, and the church
