Day 1: Dinan + Dinan Castle

Dinan Tour: The Builders of the Middle Ages

Dive into the 15th century in Dinan, guided by Barbe, a stonemason’s apprentice and brickmaker who worked on numerous city projects.

Amidst the conflict between the King of France and the Duke of Brittany, Dinan must fortify itself. The impact is evident in the architecture of the city, as well as in the major cities of Brittany. Discover the daily life of Dinan’s residents as they work on building new defenses for the city.

Equipped with her tools, Barbe will guide you along the ramparts and through the narrow streets of the medieval city, discussing the construction of a rampart or house in the 15th century. She will also share stories about her hometown and the notable figures who have visited it.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to explore several key features of the castle, such as: 

  • The Residence Tower: Completed in 1384, ascend the 45 meters of the Residence Tower. Explore the various floors where you will find scenes of court life, clearly identifiable by the period furnishings.
  • The Ramparts: Enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Dinan and learn about the various defense techniques used to protect the town.

Day 2: Île de Bréhat + Pink Granite Coast

Set out to discover the island of Bréhat. The journey will begin with a 45-minute guided boat tour. This tour will offer you an exceptional panorama, perfect for admiring the vibrant colors of the archipelago, its rugged coastline, and its rich cultural heritage.

During this tour, you will be able to see iconic sites such as the Phare du Paon, which stands proudly to the north of the island of Bréhat. After this fascinating introduction, the boat will drop you off on the main island for a self-guided visit. You will then have all the time you need to explore the island’s wonders at your own pace.

A landmark of the Côtes d’Armor, the Pink Granite Coast stretches approximately from Trébeurden to Paimpol. A walk along this trail, guided by a local expert, is a true immersion in the natural beauty of the Breton coast, with its pink rocks and blue sea. Allow at least an hour to complete the tour and fully enjoy it under the guidance of your expert.

Let yourself be enchanted by the wild beauty of this unique coastline, with its imposing pink granite blocks shaped by the wind and waves over the centuries. Starting from Ploumanac’h, your guide will introduce you to several notable points of interest. Among them is the Mean Ruz lighthouse, whose name means 'red stone' in Breton, referring to the characteristic color of the granite.

Continue your guided walk to the Christian Gad and Daniel Chhe Park, where you can admire magnificent granite sculptures that reflect Breton art and culture, all under the expert eye of your guide.

The loop ends by returning to Ploumanac’h.

Nestled in the heart of Morbihan, the Rohan family residence, Josselin Castle, is a true historical icon. For centuries, it has captivated with its architecture and history. 

Overlooking the Oust River with its three imposing medieval towers, the castle features a finely sculpted granite façade, a dazzling example of flamboyant Gothic style. Inside, the sumptuous salons and bedrooms, meticulously restored in the 19th century, provide a glimpse into the aristocratic life of bygone days.

Surrounding the castle are four hectares of landscaped gardens, blending the refinement of French formal gardens with the romantic charm of English gardens.

The visit to the estate doesn’t end there. The old stables house the Doll and Toy Museum. This unique collection will delight both young and old, adding a playful touch to your historical journey.
