Program

Follow your guide, a soldier stationed at Mont Saint-Michel in the first half of the 15th century, on a walk along the fortifications and towers, as well as to some of the fortress's more hidden corners. Travel back in time to the sound of this warrior's voice and the clinking of his armor, and learn about the realities of a stronghold under siege during the Hundred Years' War. Be prepared to challenge your preconceptions about the Middle Ages!

Get to Know Your Guide/Character:

Peppin Le Breton is a soldier who takes part in the defense of Mont Saint-Michel against the English troops controlling the rest of Normandy. He faces the siege of this stronghold and participates in the battle of 1434, during which Mont Saint-Michel narrowly avoids falling into English hands. He shares in both the garrison's military triumphs and its setbacks, including betrayals and conflicts with the monks, as well as counterfeiting and smuggling.
